How will artificial intelligence make cities more liveable

Cognitive computing will help to solve many of the transportation problems people face today. Join Imed Othmani as he demonstrates IBM MetroPulse with Watson. IBM MetroPulse collects and harmonizes thousands of data points about a neighborhood – including data from traffic, social media, local news and weather sources. It then applies advanced geo-temporal and deep learning algorithms to produce a curated, timely and hyper-local image of a targeted area. In the future, everything from traffic light timing to emergency services can be coordinated using this information to improve the life of city dwellers.

Port of Montreal Visit

The Port of Montreal is the second largest port in Canada and 5th container port on North America’s Eastern Seaboard. It handled 1,5 million TEU and 35,4 million tons of cargo, in 2016 only. Come and discover how ITS applications help improve cargo fluidity and environmental footprint: the web and mobile app (https://portmtlcamions.com) launched by the Port assists the 2,500 trucks working daily on-site in optimizing routings and transaction schedules. Data behind the application will also be used to set greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets. Data is collected through a variety of technologies (RFID, license plate readers, Bluetooth) and relayed through ITS tools and mobile devices. The tour will cover port facilities, with a focus on demonstrating access control points, truck transaction processes and data capture.
